In addition to Coach Bahl’s involvement with FCMW, he currently serves as the Head Men’s and Women’s soccer coach at NCAA Division II Upper Iowa University. Where in 2007 he guided the Peacock Women to the best record in school history.
Bahl has served in a variety of coaching roles since beginning his coaching career 15 years ago. Before his arrival at Upper Iowa, Bahl had stints at the collegiate level at the University of Northern Iowa, Mt. Mercy College, & Wartburg College. During his tenure at Mt. Mercy, Bahl successfully turned around a program that had won just one game in the four years prior to his arrival. His teams set numerous school records and had recruiting classes ranked at the top of the conference. Bahl remains the winningest coach in the history of the women’s soccer program at Mount Mercy.
Bahl has also held various high school coaching positions, including head coaching positions for the Waterloo West H.S. Boy’s from 2001-2006 and the Denver H.S. Girls in 2000. During his nine-year stint at Waterloo West,(six as head coach, three as an assistant)West teams averaged 12 wins per season and were one of Iowa’s top high school programs, winning seven district championships, two sub-state titles and earning two trips to the state tournament. Bahl also ranks as Waterloo West’s all-time winningest soccer coach and recently was inducted into the Waterloo West Soccer Hall of Fame. During his time as a high school head coach, Bahl served as the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association’s representative to the NSCAA and served as a liaison to the NSCAA All-America Committee.
Bahl, who has more than 25 years of coaching and playing experience, has also served as a club coach for numerous clubs over the last fifteen years. He currently serves as the Executive Director and Director of Coaching for FC Midwest Soccer Academy. Bahl holds a Premier Diploma from the NSCAA, the organizations highest coaching distinction. In addition, he holds a national coaching license from the USSF and an NSCAA goalkeeping diploma. He has also served as a high school and club referee. Bahl is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa and is currently pursuing a masters degree in Sports Administration & Coaching.
